Jean Pascal vs. Bernard Hopkins
By James Slater - The trouble started on Monday in Canada, when world light heavy king Jean Pascal accused Bernard Hopkins of being a thief. Pascal, ahead of the May 21st reach then went further, demanding that B-Hop take a blood test.
The amazing 46 year old said be would take any test at all, knowing he is clean and can prove it. Things clearly boiled in Hopkins' mind over night, however, as yesterday in New York, "The Executioner" well and truly lived up to his nickname. Annoyed that anyone would have the nerve to suggest his astonishing success is down to cheating, Hopkins all but threatened to kill Pascal in the ring!
"When a guy says I'm eating some kind of candy, that makes me angry," Hopkins said. "Don't be surprised if he dies in the ring on May 21. Don't be surprised if I kill him. That's how angry I am."
Hopkins, as fans may recall, got himself into some trouble when he came out with his "I'll never let. White boy beat me;" ahead of his big fight with Joe Calzaghe.
What will the critics have to say about this outburst? One writer has already compared the statement to something Mike Tyson might say or have said. Will B-Hop be in hot water over what his emotions forced him to say?
